Diane Andert has been practicing occupational therapy for over 40+ years. After graduating from Western Michigan University's Occupational Therapy Program in 1980, Diane worked at Borgess Medical Center where she treated orthopedic injuries, chronic pain disorders, and functional capacity evaluations. She also developed a work hardening program, conducted job analysis, and ergonomic workstation development.
In 1991, Diane began working at Kalamazoo Area Rehab Services, which is a woman-owned private practice that provides multi-discipline outpatient rehabilitation for pediatric and adult patient. Primary diagnoses treated were traumatic brain injuries.
Drive Well driver rehabilitation program began in 2009 as a component of community integration with the existing outpatient services. With extensive continuing education over a 3-year period, Diane became a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS) credentialed by the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED). Diane then obtained and currently holds a a Certified Driver Education Instructor credential in the state of Michigan.
Sarah Rider graduated from WMU's Occupational Therapy program in 2015, and has been an occupational therapist specializing in drivers rehabilitation and low vision for 8 years. Before becoming an OT at Drive Well, Sarah spent 10 years in Alaska serving the Iñupiat Eskimos at the Maniilaq Association as a public health employee.
Sarah is passionate about remaining up-to-date on occupational therapy, drivers rehabilitation, and low vision conditions. She educates herself by staying current on peer-reviewed literature and attending conferences such as the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED), and Envision.
